Prepare for the Netherlands’ move to digital VAT reporting
The Netherlands has currently proposed mandatory B2B e-invoicing beginning January 2030. Between 2026 and 2028, the Dutch government is expected to finalise the operating model and confirmed technical standards as well as implementation requirements. Start preparing now to avoid time pressures in the future.
What to expect
The current recommendations provided by the Dutch government are:
- Structured invoices aligned to EN 16931
- PEPPOL-based invoice exchange
- Digital-first invoice processing between businesses
These details have not been approved yet by the government but act as a basic structure for now.
