Prepare for Oman’s Fawtara e-invoicing rollout
Oman is introducing mandatory e‑invoicing through its Fawtara programme, marking a major step in the country’s digital tax transformation. The most significant recent development is the confirmation of a phased rollout beginning in August 2026, with all VAT-registered businesses expected to be included by August 2027.
What will change in Oman
Oman will adopt a PEPPOL-based 5-corner model operated by the Oman Tax Authority (OTA).
- Phase 1 begins in August 2026 for selected large taxpayers, followed by wider rollout phases in February 2027 and August 2027
- Invoices must be exchanged in structured electronic formats through accredited service providers and validated within the Fawtara framework
- The Oman Tax Authority became an official PEPPOL Authority in 2026, confirming PEPPOL as the foundation of the country's future e‑invoicing ecosystem
The programme is designed to improve tax compliance, reduce fraud, and provide greater automation across business invoicing processes.
