Prepare for Romania’s RO e-Factura compliance
In January 2026, Romania introduced a unified requirement requiring both B2B and B2C invoices to be transmitted within 5 working days of issuance. The rollout is already underway but the requirements will continue to expand. Stay ahead of any changes by preparing early and maintaining compliance.
How Romania’s e-invoicing structure works
Romania operates a centralised clearance model through the RO e-Factura government platform. Under this framework:
- Invoices must be submitted to the ANAF platform and data is validated by the tax authority
- The validated invoice becomes the legally recognised invoice
- Recipients retrieve invoices directly from the platform
Mandatory B2B e-invoicing began since January 2024 and continues to evolve. Businesses can expect future changes to be more aligned with EU ViDA requirements.
